~Ministries~

The United Presbyterian Women’s Church Fellowship invites all ladies from the church family to participate in their activities, mission work, and fellowship.  In the community, the UPW can be found serving Lenten and Advent Lunches with the Mason City Ministerial Association (MCCA), giving away free clothing at their year-round Community of Christ Clothes Closet, serving bereavement dinners, and hosting Mason City Area Nursing Home birthday parties.  Favorite events include their ever-popular onion ring booth at the Prairie Harvest Days, fall hay ride and wiener roast, and their annual Cookie Walk in December. The UPW raises funds to support a variety of missions, send youth to church camp, and add special touches to the church facilities.

  • Birthday Club meets every third Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at Dos Amigos.  Women from our church and friends come together for a meal and celebrate birthdays together.  Everyone is welcome to join us!
  • The UPW's Community of Christ Clothes Closet is open monthly on the last Saturday of the month from 9 am until 11 am.  Please enter through the north doors (off the parking lot).  This ministry is open to everyone.
    • The UPW will accept clean, fashionable Spring/Summer clothing and shoe donations - please no Fall/Winter items and please limit donations to just clothing and shoes.  Call the church office at 482-5438 to schedule your donation drop off.  The UPW reserves the right to refuse any item with holes or stains. At this time UPW asks no donations be made through the month of June... we are out of room!

Friends from the church and community are discovering a deeper passion for what God is doing in their lives.

UPC's Small Group Ministry for women presents "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place" by Beth Moore. This compelling series dramatically illustrates God's persistent desire to relate to His children through the construction of the Old Testament tabernacle in the wilderness - and how it foreshadows God's fulfillment of the true tabernacle, Jesus Christ. This in-depth study will challenge you to prepare your heart for His love and glory - a home of the Most High God. Beth Moore Study Group meets Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. at the UPC located on the corner of North Main and East High Streets - for the remaining 3 classes (5/23, 5/30, & 6/6).

Community "Chat" is a UPC small group which meets at Dos Amigos semi-monthly every first and third Friday at 9:00 a.m. Chat is open to the public and encourages everyone who attends to promote the body of Christ outside church building walls. After all, we the people are the church, not the building. No matter your denomination, church affiliation, or lack thereof - YOU are welcome and invited to join us for food, fellowship, and community chat.

  • The next scheduled Community Chats:
    • Friday, June 7
    • Friday, June 21
    • Friday, July 5
    • Friday, July 19
    • Friday, August 2
    • Friday, August 16...  Stop in to see us!

MISSION STATEMENT: The YF will strive to get the youth within our church/community to come together for fellowship and become its own body of Christ within the church/community.

"I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.  This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”  (John 15:5-8)

Youth Fellowship is no longer meeting.

A dedicated Deacon's Council provides services for the church and surrounding area.  Through their leadership and the generosity of others, many Christmas Grace gifts are given to families annually.  They give special attention to shut-ins, seniors, college students, and military personnel.  Preparing communion, ushering Sunday services, serving as worship leaders, preparing family banquets, decorating the church for Christmas, honoring graduates, and helping those in need are among their many ministries.

The UPC Praise Team celebrates the musical talents within our congregation and brings persons from all age groups together through music. Praise Team leads the congregation on Sunday mornings with songs of praise, sometimes traditional/sometimes contemporary. Praise Team vocals are led by Mr. Bennie Boyd and musical/guitar is led by Mr. Scott Jackson. Praise Team meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. If you can play a musical instrument or love to sing, please stop in on Tuesday evenings, everyone is welcome.
